Your body is a TOXIC WASTE dump!

Do you ever feel like no matter how much sleep you get or how healthy you think you’re eating, you’re still running on empty?

That constant fatigue, brain fog, or general blah feeling isn’t ALL in your head—A LOT of it is in your body.

We live in a world designed to overload us with toxins, from the stress hormones that flood our systems when we’re stuck in hustle-mode to the synthetic materials and heavy-metal-laden dyes in our workout clothes.

Your liver might be crying for help, your skin soaking in chemicals from personal care products, and your nervous system buzzing from constant radiation from your electronic devices.

Add in environmental pollutants in our air and water and microplastics in everything, and it’s no wonder we’re stuck in a fog of low energy, poor focus, and overwhelm.

The state of your body directly impacts your ability to change your state of mind and break out of the hustle.

When your body is overloaded with toxins, it’s nearly impossible to feel clear, centered, and connected to your Inner GPS—the very thing you need to shift into flow.

The good news: it’s not your fault, AND there’s something you can do about it (lots of things, actually.)

Below are five of my favorite tools to help you detox your body, reboot your energy, and clear the fog so you can finally find the energy and clarity you need to make this your BEST year yet!

My kitchen table the last time I was prepping for a liver detox …

1. Diet – Liver Detox

Let’s start with your liver—it’s your body’s built-in filter, and when it’s sluggish, you feel sluggish. The Medical Medium’s Liver Rescue protocol has been a game-changer for me in clearing out years of buildup. Whether the culprit is stress hormones, pesticides, toxic heavy metals or all the questionable stuff in your everyday environment, this process will help you clear it all!

  • Why it matters: A happy liver = better energy, clearer thinking, and fewer cravings for that first glass of wine, second cookie, or third cup of coffee.

  • Why it works: By supporting your liver, you’re giving your body the green light to detox, balance hormones, and stop running on fumes.

Please note: if you’ve never done a cleanse before (or even if you have), this is one of the MOST gentle ones you can do, and yet, it’s still NOT for the faint of heart.

It requires cutting out all fat and protein, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, grains and legumes over about 9 days so that your liver can get the rest it needs to dispose of anything that might be clogging it and get back to doing its job efficiently.

This one is NOT easy. It’s VERY prescriptive and it requires dedicated time and space, but I try to do it twice a year and I’m telling you, each time I’ve never felt better!

Also, if you live in a really cold climate like I do (it’s literally 14°F today), I do not recommend this in the winter. Wait until it’s warm out.

Meanwhile, you can do a mini-cleanse by just cleaning up your sources of meat and veg, cutting out processed foods, and reducing grains, and just waiting until afternoon to consume any fat or protein or sugar to give your liver a little longer each day to rest and do its job.

2. Lymphatic Drainage

Think of your lymphatic system as your body’s garbage disposal—it doesn’t have a pump like your heart, so it needs you to keep things moving.

  • Jumping on a rebounder: This simple movement gets your lymph fluid flowing, clears out toxins, and boosts your energy in just a few minutes. And it's FUN!!

  • Gua Sha: My personal fave, the Empress Stone from Wildling helps stimulate lymph flow while reducing puffiness and tension. Bonus: it feels incredible.

  • Why it matters: Clearing lymphatic stagnation means less bloating, brighter skin, and a more robust immune system.

If you don’t have a rebounder or don’t want one, you can just jump up and down for a minute every morning on the floor.

I do this all the time while traveling and while it’s not as fun as a mini-trampoline, I don’t have any evidence that it doesn’t work just as well. I feel energized and refreshed afterward every time.

Oh, and if you don’t want to buy gua sha tools, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that will show you how to do lymphatic drainage on your face and neck just using a high quality oil and your own knuckles.

Not only will this help you avoid catching that cold that everyone around you seems to have, it will literally help slim your face. Win-win!

3. Dry Brushing

If you’re not dry brushing yet, what are you even doing? This simple practice exfoliates your skin, stimulates lymph flow, and boosts circulation.

  • Pro tip: Do it before a sauna session or a bath for a true glow-up. Always brush toward your heart.

  • Why it matters: It’s like giving your skin (your body’s largest detox organ) a wake-up call to ditch the gunk and start shining.

My favorite is here. Why I like it: because the ones with the long handle are awkward, and when you remove the long handle (which some are designed for) and just use the strap over your hand, the strap is often too big for a woman’s hand so holding on is challenging and the movements are sloppy. Having it be a pleasant process based on the shape of the handle is worth a few extra dollars to me to make sure its something I look forward to.

4. Bath – Magnesium Flakes, Not Epsom Salts

Yes, baths are relaxing, and we all need more of that. But let’s level them up with magnesium flakes.

Unlike Epsom salts, magnesium flakes absorb better, tend to be less dubious in terms of processing and potential for contamination, and help your muscles and nervous system truly unwind.

  • Why it matters: Stress depletes magnesium, leaving you tense, tired, and cranky. A magnesium bath refills the tank, calms your nervous system, and helps your body release stress hormones.

  • Why it works: Magnesium salts help extract toxins from your largest organ, your skin! It’s like hitting the reset button for your body and mind.

I use 1-3 cups of magnesium salt in my bath with a couple of drops of high quality essential oil and sometimes ½ teaspoon of organic sesame oil for really hydrated skin upon getting out of the bath.

Note: don’t stay in too long! The point of the salt is to draw out toxins, but if you soak in them for more than 20-30 minutes, you run the risk of starting to reabsorb everything you just let go of.

WANNA TAKE IT DEEPER??

THIS is my #1 FAVORITE TOOL in my toolbox right now!!

5. Infrared Sauna

Okay, not everyone has space for a full-on sauna at home—me included. I thought about putting one outside the back door under my deck where it would be fairly sheltered, but given that the low tonight is going to be -5°F, it would take A LOT of energy to heat it properly and I just don't really want to go out there, so … no.

Anyway, that’s why I’m OBSESSED with my Higher Dose Infrared Sauna Blanket.

  • Why it matters: It’s a portable solution that supports sleep, eases sore muscles, accelerates recovery, and helps you sweat out all kinds of impurities, while increasing blood flow and circulation in the comfort of your own home.

  • Why it works: Infrared saunas heat you from the inside out, helping your body sweat out toxins, boost circulation, and even improve your mood.

I definitely recommend getting the sauna blanket insert with it. It’s basically an organic cotton terry cloth towel that’s been sewn into a pocket that protects your skin from direct contact with the sauna blanket itself.

You could use two of your own towels, one on top and one on bottom, but I tried it – it’s messy and annoying. They’re pretty good about offering deals for accessories, so see what pops up when you check out.

BTW, everything I’ve tried from Higher Dose is awesome (ok except I’m not a huge fan of the magnesium gummies because they have citric acid in them which is not great for your urinary tract and is likely derived from GMO corn – we can’t all be perfect all the time – but all the equipment I’ve tried is amazing!)

Did I mention it’s HSA/FSA eligible and bundles are all 20% off right now?? Kind of a no-brainer!

TAKEAWAY

The world hath no mercy. This bombardment of toxins and distractions and overstimulation isn't going to slow down anytime soon, so you have to take a stand for YOU.

These are the things I’m prioritizing this winter to help my body detox, de-stress, and get back into flow after spending too many weeks in someone else’s space over the holidays.

Maybe you’ll only start with one or two—totally fine.

It’s not about doing it ALL. It’s about doing what works for YOU.

And hey, if diving into this feels overwhelming, start small. Maybe it’s swapping out toxic household and personal care items instead.

I’m working on a cheat sheet for beginners, outlining exactly what to ditch first and why—if you want it, hit reply and let me know (I’ll step on the gas and get it to you ASAP.)

Meanwhile, let’s start detoxing and get you feeling energized again. You in?

Make LOVE ❤️ not HUSTLE.

P.S. If you’re feeling out of whack and you want to get to the root of it BEFORE you start taking action to detox, I highly recommend getting a full biomarker workup from Function Health. This is the most comprehensive set of tests I’ve seen for an unbelievably low price and it’s HSA/FSA eligible!
