Do you even meditate, Brah?

Ok, I know … all the online zillionaires and all the  “woke dudes” and even all the “hustle bros” out there in internet-land are HUGE fans of meditation.

And they’re not wrong.

Meditation is an amazing tool for calming the mind and the nervous system so you can cut through all the noise of your busy life and connect with something deeper.

But here’s where I think all the "bro culture" of false gurus and charlatans have it all wrong:

Meditation is not about achievement.

Transcendental Meditation, for instance, promises natural and spiritual transcendence – essentially an escape from ordinary reality – as well as magical superpowers.

But we have PLENTY of other ways to check out of our lives temporarily … try over-eating, drinking wine or whiskey every night to unwind, Netflx ‘n’ chillin’, doom-scrolling, PORN, weed.

Or anything else that gives you a temporary hit of dopamine (which feels really magical in the moment, but always leaves you feeling a little empty and wanting more afterward.)

You see, meditation is not about going up and out.

It’s about going down and in.

That’s where you connect with all of creation, with your soul’s purpose.

And learn to create in collaboration with source.

For years, I’ve watched high-level tech execs in Silicon Valley and New York go visit a higher state of consciousness, and then come back and treat their employees and families like shit.

In this case, their “meditation” is a totally self-serving activity that makes them feel better temporarily, but has no lasting effect on their mood or temperament.

In my opinion, this is a waste of energy.

When I teach clients to set their minds aside and reconnect with what’s actually happening in their bodies, there’s a fundamental shift in the way they start interacting with the world, with who they are BEING … 

And it doesn’t require years of sitting on a pillow, with cramps in your knees, wondering if you’re even doing it right.

When we do emotional and energetic practices together, it’s a guided process that’ll take you deeper than you can take yourself.

And I’m right there with you the whole time.

There’s no need to wonder whether you’re “doing it right.”

And it puts you in a position to be able to much more easily meditate on your own (when you're ready) once you’ve had the experience and you know what that ultimate peace and calm feels like in your body.

And when we do it, we’re not just going to go visit unconditional love, we’re actually going to treat our annoying coworker with unconditional love.

We’re not just gonna go play off in the heights of ultimate supreme creativity and unlimitedness, we’re actually going to bring that into our lives and work with that energy in our jobs and businesses and relationships.

You don’t have to go hermit yourself in a cave in the Himalayas.

You don’t have to torture yourself on a cushion, repeating mantras over and over again (that you don’t even understand.)

And I’m NOT saying that you shouldn’t do approach it that way if you feel called to …

I’m just offering that you can MASTER your emotions and your energy in a simple but holistic way so that your next 40 years on this planet (or next few days ‘cause we never know how long we might have) can be about you SERVING your highest possible purpose instead of continuing to try to keep up with the daily grind.
